It was formally described in 2011 and named for Rob Cantley of Borneo Exotics. It comes from a very small area of Mindanao in the Philippines and is still one of the hardest Nepenthes to find in the US.

The pollen parent is macrophylla, provided by Pablo F. as part of a collaboration on this cross. This species is endemic to the summit of Mount Trus Madi in Sabah, Borneo, growing in true ultra highland conditions. It is best known for a peristome lined with long, curved teeth, putting it right alongside villosa and edwardsiana as one of the most ornate pitchers in the genus.

Bringing macrophylla's teeth onto robcantleyi's size and dark coloring is about as exciting as a cross gets. The seedlings should be more forgiving on temperature than pure macrophylla, with real potential for big, dark pitchers carrying a toothy, flared peristome. Only one pack available.

Each pack contains approximately 30 seeds, harvested October 2026.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light.
