Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before, during, and after your order.
📦 Shipping
When will my order ship?
We ship out orders on Mondays, Tuesdays, and most Wednesdays — because even plants deserve a weekend.
We're a husband-and-wife operation with no additional staff, so there will be occasional pauses in shipping when we're out of town. For the most current status, always check the black announcement bar at the top of every page on our site.
Where are my plants shipped from?
Every plant is packed and shipped directly from our greenhouses in Colorado Springs, CO.
Can you ship plants outside the USA?
We're unable to ship live plants internationally at this time. However, if your country allows declared clean seed imports, we can ship seeds to most countries.
How will my plant be packaged?
All plants are carefully packed and shipped bare-root. Most are wrapped in moss, then in a paper towel and plastic wrap to keep them safe and hydrated during transit. Every order is handled with care — your plants will be lovingly prepared and securely packaged.
Do you use recycled packaging?
Yes! We do our best to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Your plants might arrive wrapped in repurposed newspaper, festive wrapping paper left over from holidays, or recycled packing peanuts. It may not always look uniform — but it keeps your plants safe and cuts down on waste.
Do I need a heat pack during cold weather?
Yes — during fall, winter, and early spring (generally when temperatures along the shipping route or at your location are expected to drop below freezing), we strongly recommend — and in many cases require — adding a 72-hour heat pack for any order containing live tropical or highland carnivorous plants (Nepenthes, Heliamphora, most Drosera, etc.).
You can add a 72-hour heat pack here:
72-Hour Heat Pack (add-on with live plant orders only)
Our Live Arrival Guarantee during cold months is only valid when a heat pack was included and the package is brought indoors promptly upon delivery (within 1–2 hours of the first delivery attempt).
🌱 Plants & What to Expect
What will my plant look like when it arrives?
Photos on our site show representative mature specimens — your plant may not look exactly like the photo, especially if it's a younger or starter plant. Rest assured, we always ship the healthiest, largest specimen available at the time of packing.
Some species take years to reach full maturity, and part of the joy is watching them grow. Temperate carnivorous plants are typically dormant from late October through April and will appear smaller during that period.
Why does my Venus flytrap seem so small?
If your plant was ordered between November and April, it is likely in its natural dormancy period. During dormancy, Venus flytraps slow their growth and often appear much smaller — sometimes only about ¼ the size they would be at peak growing season.
All of our Venus flytraps are vegetatively propagated and grown in a cool greenhouse that drops well below freezing in winter, so they experience completely natural seasonal cycles. These are not tissue culture plants — they've been properly hardened and conditioned to follow normal growth patterns.
Are you open for in-person visits or purchases?
We're not currently open for retail sales or drop-in visits. However, we host an annual Open Day — usually in July or August (August 8th 2026) where you can visit, shop, and enjoy the greenhouse in person. Attendance is by RSVP only, so keep an eye on our announcements to secure your spot!
🛒 Orders & Returns
Live Arrival Guarantee — what's covered?
We guarantee your plants will arrive alive and in good condition. If your plant arrives dead or severely damaged, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos. Once reviewed, we'll offer a replacement or store credit at our discretion.
- Damage caused by shipping delays, extreme weather, or plants left outside in excessive heat or cold after delivery
- Damage due to improper care after delivery
- Orders shipped with incorrect address information
- Cold-weather shipments where no heat pack was added (see heat pack FAQ above)
Can I return my order?
No returns — because plants are divas.
We love our plants and send them off looking their absolute best. But once they leave the greenhouse, they're out in the wild world of mail trucks, doorsteps, and unpredictable weather. Because they're live plants (not socks or toasters), we can't accept returns or exchanges.
That said, if your plant arrives in rough shape, send us a photo right away. We'll do our best to make it right.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes — you can cancel with no penalty, as long as you cancel before it ships.
I entered an incorrect shipping address — what do I do?
Reply to your order confirmation email or contact us at jeremiahsplants@gmail.com as soon as possible. We can update the address as long as the order hasn't left the greenhouse.
Once shipped, we unfortunately cannot change the address or issue a refund for an incorrect submission.
