The Day

Dear plant enthusiasts, this special day is our chance to open the doors, share the beauty of the greenhouses, and connect with fellow lovers of all things green and growing. We expect a lively crowd of 200 or more attendees, so we kindly ask for everyone's cooperation to keep the event safe, friendly, and enjoyable for all.

Getting Here

Access Columbia Road from Colorado Avenue. If your GPS tries to route you through Garden of the Gods, it's leading you the wrong way, come in from Colorado Ave instead.

Event Guidelines

Plant ExchangeBring your plants for sale or trade. A perfect chance to share treasures and discover new favorites. Please place plants for exchange on the outside tables along the north side of the large greenhouse.
ParkingPlease be mindful when parking along Columbia Rd and do not block any driveways.
SecurityFor the safety of our plants and collections, no backpacks, large bags, purses, or plants may be brought into the greenhouses. Thank you for understanding.

Before You Come

If you're planning to sell plants at the exchange, send a quick message to confirm first.
Dinner afterward will be at Edelweiss German Restaurant, out on their biergarten patio, Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 5:15 PM. You can reserve your spot here.

This Year's Cause

Every year at Open Day we like to support one carnivorous plant researcher or organization doing important work in the field.

This year we're raising money for Muhammad Hisyam Fadhil, a Nepenthes expert from Indonesia currently studying these remarkable plants as part of his PhD research at Bogor, Indonesia. The suggested donation is around $5 per person, but every little bit helps and is genuinely appreciated. We'll have a donation box at the event, please give what you can and help support the next generation of carnivorous plant science.

We can't wait to welcome you to this year's Greenhouse Open Day. Bring your curiosity, your love for plants, and your best stories from the growing season. It's going to be a day to remember.
