Greenhouse tours, dormant season, and a few new pages on the site

Closing Up for Winter
October went by fast. The highland greenhouse is closed up and winterized, the flytraps and Sarracenia are settling into dormancy, and the nights here in Colorado Springs are getting cold. Still no baby yet, but he should be here any day now. Most of my October was spent filming, writing, and building out the website, so this issue is a little different from the usual bench report.

The 2026 Greenhouse Tour, All Seven Parts
I said last month I was hoping to film the annual walkthroughs, and they are done. Seven parts this year:
- Part 1: the little lean to greenhouse I built when I was about 14, still full of flytraps and Sarracenia
- Part 2 and Part 3: the Venus flytrap greenhouse I tore down and rebuilt in June, now holding over 450 varieties
- Part 4 and Part 5: the big 1,000 square foot greenhouse with Sarracenia, flytraps, Heliamphora, Nepenthes, and Drosera
- Part 6: my 10x10 grow tent packed with Nepenthes
- Part 7: the Cephalotus, pygmy Drosera, and Pinguicula rack, all grown in plain Colorado room humidity
Tap any part above to watch it on YouTube. If you'd rather watch it all in one spot, I put the full playlist on the blog with links to the plants from each greenhouse.

Dormant Season Is Here
Every Venus flytrap and Sarracenia on the site now says "Dormant, Shipped Bare Root" in the title, and that will stay through late April. A dormant flytrap looks a little sad, small winter traps hugging the soil, and that is completely normal. They come roaring back in spring. If you are in a cold part of the country, add a 72 hour heat pack to your order for $3. Pinguicula and Drosera are not affected and ship like normal.

The Gear I Actually Use
I get asked about lights, fans, and sensors constantly, so I finally put it all on one page. My Gear covers 24 things I use every day, from the grow lights in the tent (I run the VIPARSPECTRA P1000 at about 40% and the MARS HYDRO SP3000 at about 25%) to misting, airflow, automation, and potting media. Every item has a note on how I use it and how long I have been using it. A few links are affiliate links, which help support the nursery at no cost to you.

Societies and Resources
I also built a page of carnivorous plant societies from around the world, plus the guides, books, and links I personally recommend. The Colorado Carnivorous Plant Society is on there too, the club I started back in 2003. There is a section for my hero, the late Peter D'Amato of California Carnivores, along with the photo from the day I met him in 2003. If you buy from California Carnivores, use the code JEREMIAH.

A Few Posts Worth a Look
The Victoria colombiana post now has five videos from the trip, extra photos from the camera roll, and links to the coverage from Kew and The Guardian. The record flytrap post has been updated with photos of this year's 6.6 cm trap on GJ Montecore. And coming soon, a post about my good friends Howard and Beastie at Brambles Botanicals, right here in Colorado Springs, who are doing amazing things with tropical butterworts.

Two New Crosses, Already Gone
I listed two new highland Nepenthes seed crosses in October, robcantleyi Q x macrophylla and mira x macrophylla, both made with macrophylla pollen from Pablo F. They sold out quickly. If you want a shot at the next batch, hit the Notify Me button on the listing.

Carnivoria Flytraps
Every flytrap bred by David Svarc of Carnivoria in the Czech Republic now carries his name in the title, spelled the way David spells it. He has bred some of the most beautiful cultivars out there and deserves the credit.

A Short Shipping Break Is Coming
Once our new son arrives, I will be pausing shipping for a few weeks so I can be home with my family. Orders placed before he comes will go out as usual, and anything placed during the break will ship as soon as I'm back. If there is something you have had your eye on, now is a good time to grab it. Thank you for the patience, and for all the support this year.
Happy growing.
Jeremiah
