Drosera binata ‘Marston Dragon’ - Medium Sized Carnivorous Plant (Shipped Bare-Root)

Bred by the legendary Adrian Slack in 1999, Drosera binata 'Marston Dragon' is a stunning hybrid of D. dichotoma 'giant' and D. multifida 'extrema' that captivates with dramatically hooked, multiply-forked leaves resembling crimson dragon talons. This medium-sized cultivar combines the robust vigor of its Australian and New Zealand parentage with horticultural refinement, making it a showstopping addition to any serious carnivorous plant collection.

Care Requirements

Light — Full sun, 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily. A south-facing window, outdoor placement, or grow lights work well.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Use the tray method — keep roots sitting in a shallow tray of water.

Soil — Pure peat moss or long-fiber sphagnum, with optional perlite or sand added for drainage. Garden soil will not work.

Dormancy — Varies by species. Temperate Drosera require 3–4 months of cool winter dormancy. Tropical and subtropical species grow year-round and do not require dormancy.

Humidity — Moderate to high humidity preferred. Most sundews adapt well to open-air growing once established.

Shipping & What to Expect

Our bare root Drosera (sundews) are shipped according to their natural growing cycle. During the active growing season you will receive a plant with live leaves and dew-covered tentacles. Temperate species shipped in winter dormancy will arrive without active leaves — this is completely normal and essential for long-term health.
