Heliamphora exappendiculata Apacapa AW hails from the cloud-shrouded heights of Apacapa Tepui, Venezuela, where it thrives among alpine moss at elevations near 1700–2100m. This densely hirsute clone from Andreas Wistuba's legendary collection produces compact pitchers that shift from pale buttery yellow to luminous peach and deep red depending on light intensity, with the distinctive arched posterior and absent nectar spoon characteristic of the species.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.

Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.

Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.

Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
