Heliamphora pulchella 'Churi tepui AW 1' hails from the misty heights of Churi Tepui in Venezuela's Chimantá Massif, where it thrives between 1,850–2,550m elevation. This striking clone showcases robust pitchers up to 12cm with heart-shaped openings and a distinctive silvery interior lined with paired, retentive hairs, crowned by a helmet-shaped nectar spoon—the entire plant glowing deep maroon-red under strong light, fading to muted green in lower conditions, courtesy of legendary taxonomist Andreas Wistuba's discerning selections.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.
Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.
Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.
Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
