These Taerwe Tropicals imports are still fairly new, brought in during July 2026, so yours may arrive without an active pitcher just yet. They have had enough time in my care to settle in well, and I am confident they will grow great once they have found their new home.
This complex hybrid brings together five species across several rounds of breeding. Nepenthes lowii, appearing multiple times in the parentage, contributes its unmistakable constricted, waisted pitcher shape found in mature upper pitchers. Nepenthes veitchii, also appearing multiple times, adds a wide, flared peristome and strong climbing habit. Nepenthes boschiana contributes a broad, funnel shaped peristome and robust growth. Nepenthes maxima brings wide natural variation in pitcher shape and coloration. Nepenthes campanulata, one of the rarer species in cultivation, rounds out the cross with its distinctive bell shaped lower pitchers.
The mother line was selected in 2019 for its exceptional form, and the resulting plants show the wide, heavily ribbed peristomes and rich burgundy and yellow striping characteristic of this complex parentage.
With lowii, veitchii, boschiana, and campanulata all highland species, expect this hybrid to favor cooler, highland style conditions.
Sourced directly from Taerwe Tropicals of Belgium through our exclusive US partnership.
