The mother plant is my own rajah x edwardsiana hybrid from 2017, still my favorite cross I have made and my largest Nepenthes by pitcher volume at 1.82 liters. The father is Nepenthes villosa, a species found only on Mount Kinabalu and neighboring Mount Tambuyukon at higher elevation than any other Bornean Nepenthes. This species is known for its dense covering of brown hair and one of the most fiercely toothed peristomes in the entire genus.
In the wild, villosa naturally crosses with both rajah and edwardsiana, so this seed brings all three of those legendary species together in one cross. Expect significant variation, with real potential for outstanding peristome development and size. With villosa in the parentage, these seedlings will also want cold nights and true highland conditions to thrive.
Each pack contains approximately 30 seeds, harvested July 2026.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct midday sun.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Do not use the tray method.
Soil — Well-draining mix of live sphagnum, perlite, or coco coir. Avoid heavy peat mixes.
Temperature — Highland species: days 70–80°F, nights 45–60°F. Lowland species: warm year-round, 75–90°F. Check your specific plant's requirements.
Humidity — 70–90% preferred. A greenhouse, grow tent, or humid windowsill works well.
Dormancy — Not required. Nepenthes grow year-round with consistent conditions.
