Nepenthes Pennywise rooted cuttings offer an immediate advantage for collectors seeking mature pitcher production—these genetically identical propagations bypass juvenile stages to deliver the hybrid's signature sinister appeal. Expect large, undulating leaves paired with colorful pitchers marked by an unmistakable kinked peristome on lower traps, the distinctive trait that inspired this cultivar's darkly evocative name.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct midday sun.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Do not use the tray method.
Soil — Well-draining mix of live sphagnum, perlite, or coco coir. Avoid heavy peat mixes.
Temperature — Highland species: days 70–80°F, nights 45–60°F. Lowland species: warm year-round, 75–90°F. Check your specific plant's requirements.
Humidity — 70–90% preferred. A greenhouse, grow tent, or humid windowsill works well.
Dormancy — Not required. Nepenthes grow year-round with consistent conditions.
About Rooted Cuttings
Our Nepenthes rooted cuttings are an excellent way to acquire a more mature, established plant faster than starting from seed. Each cutting has been allowed to develop a healthy root system before shipping, giving you a head start on growing some of the most spectacular pitcher plants in the hobby.
All cuttings ship bare-root, wrapped in live sphagnum moss to protect roots during transit. Because these are cuttings from mature plants, they are genetically identical to the mother plant — what you see in the photos is exactly what you're getting in terms of pitcher shape, color, and form.
Please allow a short adjustment period after arrival. Some leaf drop or pitcher die-back during transit is normal. Keep humidity high and light moderate for the first few weeks while the plant re-establishes.
