What a Month July Was

My goodness, July was such a busy month here at Jeremiah's Plants. Between a new world record, 77 new Nepenthes listings, a field trip to the San Juan Mountains, and a major partnership announcement -- it is hard to believe it all fit into one month.

A New Guinness World Record -- for the Third Time

We are beyond excited to announce that we have broken our own Guinness World Record for the largest trap on a Venus flytrap -- for the third time. The new record holder is Dionaea muscipula GJ Montecore, with a trap measuring 6.6 cm (2.59 in), confirmed on June 9th, 2026.

GJ Montecore was originally bred by Mathias Maier of Green Jaws Nursery in Germany in 2014. I have been growing this cultivar since 2020, and this year it finally produced something truly extraordinary. For context, most Venus flytrap traps typically only reach around 2 to 3 cm -- this one is more than double that.

It was a lot of work and it ended up being late July, but I did get 77 new Nepenthes listed on the site -- including brand new hybrids being offered for the first time anywhere. If you haven't browsed the updated collection yet, there is a lot to discover.

Wild Drosera anglica in the San Juan Mountains

Alice, Luca and I took a trip to the San Juan Mountains this July, and with the help of Hawken Carlton we located Drosera anglica growing wild -- a genuinely special find. There is something about seeing these plants in their native habitat that never gets old.

Greenhouse Open Day -- August 8th

We are busy preparing everything for our annual Greenhouse Open Day right here in Colorado Springs. It is shaping up to be the biggest one yet with lots of vendors, and the plants for sale in the greenhouses are looking amazing.
