This vigorous pygmy sundew hybrid from southern Western Australia produces gemmae that will develop into stunning rosettes with massive leaves and long, dewy tentacles—far larger than typical pygmy specimens. Under intense light, the foliage transforms to luminous yellow-orange, while abundant light pinkish-purple flowers reward attentive growers with prolific blooms and reliable gemmae production.
Care Requirements
Light — Full sun to bright indirect light, 6+ hours daily. Grow lights work excellently for pygmy sundews.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Use the tray method with a shallow water level.
Soil — Pure peat moss or long-fiber sphagnum, with optional perlite or sand added for drainage. Garden soil will not work.
Dormancy — Pygmy sundews produce gemmae in autumn and winter as part of their natural cycle. They do not require a cold dormancy period.
Humidity — Moderate to high humidity preferred, especially while gemmae are establishing.
About Gemmae & What to Expect
You will receive 20 fresh gemmae — the tiny vegetative propagules that pygmy sundews naturally produce in winter. Gemmae are not seeds; they are genetically identical to the parent plant and will develop into full-sized sundews with proper care.
To establish: place gemmae on the surface of moist, pure sphagnum or peat and keep in bright light with high humidity. Do not bury them. Most gemmae will begin sprouting within 2–4 weeks.
Gemmae are perishable and should be planted as soon as possible after arrival. We guarantee live, fresh gemmae upon delivery.
