Heliamphora ciliata (Shipped Bare-Root)

Heliamphora ciliata, the only Heliamphora restricted to sub-montane elevations near Aprada Tepui, commands attention for its distinctive hairy pitcher architecture and elegantly angled nectar spoon fringed with distinctive cilia. Its reddish, tubular pitchers feature a unique water-regulating slit and dual-layer interior setae that distinguish it from all other Heliamphora—a true collector's specimen for those seeking botanical rarity.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.

Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.

Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.

Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
