Hailing from the remote heights of Aprada Tepui at 8,200 feet, this exceptional Giant Bubble variant of H. exappendiculata showcases massively inflated pitchers and a bulbous nectar spoon of extraordinary proportions—a striking departure from typical forms. Andreas Wistuba's exploration of this isolated, rarely-visited tepui brought this remarkable clone into cultivation, where mature specimens develop pitchers reaching 35cm and oversized bubble structures that exemplify the dramatic diversity found on the highest Guayana highlands.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.
Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.
Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.
Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
