Heliamphora minor CL Best represents one of the genus's most diminutive species, endemic to the cloud-shrouded heights of Auyán-tepui in Venezuela above 2000 meters. This clone develops striking red-tinted, cylindrical urn-shaped pitchers that intensify to brilliant crimson in strong light, with the characteristic small nectar spoon typical of this highland specialist.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.

Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.

Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.

Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
