Heliamphora minor var. pilosa Blackish Clone originates from the misty summit plateaus of Auyán-tepui in Venezuela, where this hairy variant thrives at elevations between 1900–2500 meters. This striking clone develops deep burgundy to nearly black pitchers adorned with conspicuous exterior fuzz, paired with a distinctive greenish nectar spoon held at a precise angle—characteristics that set pilosa apart from standard minor clones and make it a prized addition to serious collections.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.

Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.

Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.

Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
