Heliamphora 'The Empress of the Void' was selected from a batch of seeds of the hybrid H. (nutans x glabra) x H. folliculata, originally released by California Carnivores in 2015. These seeds were germinated and raised by Jeremiah Harris.
Expect curvaceous pitchers displaying the luscious proportions of its H. nutans lineage alongside folliculata's iconic concave spoon and hollow nectar chamber, creating a sophisticated carnivore for the accomplished collector.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.
Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.
Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.
Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
