Steve Galic of Fox Leaf Farm self-pollinated the legendary Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea 'Waccamaw'—celebrated for its spring pitchers saturated in bright red—to create this #16 selection from his thoughtful breeding project. Waccamaw selfings produce a captivating range from mostly green to intensely red offspring, with some yielding attractive miniature red forms that maintain the parent's striking contrast of yellow interiors marked by central red veining.

Our bare root Sarracenia (North American pitcher plants) are shipped according to their natural growing cycle. During the active growing season (spring through early fall), you'll receive a plant with live foliage, often including vibrant pitchers. In the winter months, Sarracenia naturally enter dormancy, and will be shipped without leaves or with brown, dying pitchers—this is completely normal and essential for the plant's long-term health.
