This 2 11/16 inch wide by 2 11/16 inch plastic pot is my favorite small size for young or compact carnivorous plants that want more moisture and more air around the roots, and now it comes pre-filled with pure long fiber sphagnum moss, ready for your new plant.
The depth gives small roots just enough room to establish. The moss holds consistent moisture, fits nicely in trays or humid setups for bottom watering, and drains well enough to avoid sogginess.
The substrate is my trusted pure long fiber sphagnum moss, sourced from clean, high quality stock. Its natural airy structure holds moisture while still letting roots breathe and stay oxygenated. It carries built in anti fungal and anti bacterial properties, and it creates the acidic, low mineral environment these plants want, with nothing in it to mess with the pH. No mixing or prepping needed. Soak it lightly if you want, drop in your plant, water with distilled or rainwater, and you are good.
Quick Guide: What This Mix Is For
Great for: all carnivorous plants. It is the top pick for young Nepenthes, Heliamphora, and epiphytic Utricularia, and it works just as well for baby Venus flytraps, small Sarracenia divisions, and young Drosera or Pinguicula.
This is the premium substrate, so it runs pricier than a standard mix. If you are starting a temperate plant like a Venus flytrap, Sarracenia division, Drosera, or Pinguicula and want to save a little money, grab the small pot pre-filled with my favorite peat-perlite mix instead. It works just as well for those plants and costs less.
Made from high quality plastic that will last multiple seasons. Lightweight, holds up great for our setups, and better than terra cotta for acidic soil since it does not leach anything weird.
