This 2 11/16 inch wide by 2 11/16 inch plastic pot is my favorite small size for young or compact carnivorous plants, and now it comes pre-filled with my favorite peat-perlite mix, blended and ready for your new plant.
The depth gives small roots just enough room to establish in baby Venus flytraps, tiny sundews, young butterworts, small Sarracenia divisions, and plenty more. It holds the steady moisture that peat-perlite plants want, fits nicely in trays or humid setups for bottom watering, and drains well enough to avoid sogginess.
The mix itself is my trusted blend, sourced from clean, low mineral ingredients. It is airy and well draining so sensitive roots stay happy, with nothing in it that will throw off the pH. No mixing ratios on your end, no guesswork. Drop in your plant, water with distilled or rainwater, and you are set. This setup gives quick rooting and solid starts for small plants without the hassle.
Heads up that the look of the mix can vary slightly depending on what I have in stock at the time. Rest assured, this is exactly what I am using to repot my own plants right now, straight from the same bin.
Quick Guide: What This Mix Is For
Great for: Venus flytraps, Sarracenia, Drosera, Pinguicula, and most other temperate carnivorous plants, especially young plants and small divisions.
Not recommended for: Nepenthes, Heliamphora, and epiphytic Utricularia. Those plants want more air around the roots than a peat-perlite mix gives them.
Growing one of those three? Grab the small pot pre-filled with pure long fiber sphagnum moss instead. It is a much better match for their roots.
Made from high quality plastic that will last multiple seasons. Lightweight, holds up great for our setups, and better than terra cotta for acidic soil since it does not leach anything weird.
