Heliamphora tatei var. tatei AW represents the Cerro Duida form—prized for its uniform coloration and sourced through Andreas Wistuba's legendary carnivorous plant selections. This Venezuelan alpine endemic thrives at elevations exceeding 1,700 meters, developing distinctive pitchers up to 35 cm with pronounced V-shaped frontal slits and occasionally red-tinged conical nectar spoons that command serious collector attention.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.
Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.
Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.
Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
