Heliamphora x ionasi x heterodoxa (Shipped Bare-Root)

This striking hybrid combines the upright, gently curved pitchers of H. ionasi—endemic to the high plateau between Ilu and Tramen Tepui—with the robust vigor of H. heterodoxa from Ptari Tepui's Gran Sabana. Expect gracefully flaring hoods with a distinctive mid-pitcher indentation that intensifies to rich coloration under bright light, creating a specimen that showcases the best characteristics of both Venezuelan tepui parents.

Care Requirements

Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.

Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.

Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.

Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.

Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
