Originally passed around as S. Calen Hall before being renamed, Sarracenia × Sun Visor is the cultivar we know and love today. Bred by Phil F., the plant carries an interesting history before even reaching the hands of collectors.
The cultivar name evokes imagery of a prominently hooded or reflexed lid that shades the pitcher opening much like a visor — a fitting description for what makes this plant so visually distinctive among Sarracenia hybrids.

Our bare root Sarracenia (North American pitcher plants) are shipped according to their natural growing cycle. During the active growing season (spring through early fall), you'll receive a plant with live foliage, often including vibrant pitchers. In the winter months, Sarracenia naturally enter dormancy, and will be shipped without leaves or with brown, dying pitchers—this is completely normal and essential for the plant's long-term health.
