The mother plant is (peltata x truncata Giant) EP. Both parents come from Mindanao in the Philippines. Nepenthes peltata is a highland species from Mount Hamiguitan with hairy, rounded pitchers, and it is a close relative of truncata. The truncata Giant side is the same clone behind some of the most massive truncata I have seen in cultivation, a species capable of pitchers up to 40 cm tall.
The pollen parent is villosa. Found on Mount Kinabalu and Mount Tambuyukon in Sabah, it grows in ultra highland conditions and is famous for one of the most elaborate peristomes in the genus, with tall ribs ending in sharp teeth along the inner edge.
This cross takes the size and heavy pitchers of the peltata x truncata mother and adds the dramatic, toothed peristome of villosa. The Philippine side should also make these seedlings far more forgiving than pure villosa, which is notoriously tough to keep happy outside of cool conditions.
Each pack contains approximately 30 seeds, harvested October 2026.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct midday sun.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Do not use the tray method.
Soil — Well-draining mix of live sphagnum, perlite, or coco coir. Avoid heavy peat mixes.
Temperature — Highland species: days 70–80°F, nights 45–60°F. Lowland species: warm year-round, 75–90°F. Check your specific plant's requirements.
Humidity — 70–90% preferred. A greenhouse, grow tent, or humid windowsill works well.
Dormancy — Not required. Nepenthes grow year-round with consistent conditions.
