I grow both parents of this cross myself. The pod parent is truncata Giant, the same clone behind some of the most massive truncata I have seen in cultivation, and it is crossed with edwardsiana Wide Peristome, a standout clone known for its exceptionally broad, ribbed peristome.
Nepenthes truncata is one of the largest species in the genus, capable of pitchers up to 40 cm tall. Nepenthes edwardsiana is a highland species famous for its wildly ribbed peristome and striking coloration. Bringing these two together should push toward large pitchers with an exaggerated peristome, a real showpiece combination.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light. Avoid intense direct midday sun.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Do not use the tray method.
Soil — Loose, free draining mix of live sphagnum, perlite, or coco coir. Avoid heavy peat mixes.
Temperature — Highland species: days 70 to 80°F, nights 45 to 60°F.
Humidity — 70 to 90% preferred. A greenhouse, grow tent, or humid windowsill works well.
Dormancy — Not required. Nepenthes grow year round with consistent conditions.
The Freshest Seed Around
Each pack contains roughly 30 seeds. I only store seed for about four months before pulling it from the site. Every seed listing clearly shows the month it was collected.
Bring home the wonder of carnivorous plants with premium Nepenthes seed, carefully harvested and handled to ensure maximum freshness and viability. This is a rare chance to grow this exact combination from the very beginning.
Seed Guarantee
While I cannot guarantee individual germination, I only sell seed that is fresh and looks viable to me.
