Heliamphora neblinae from Cerro de la Neblina represents the apex of the genus, producing the longest pitchers known in Heliamphora—reaching 50–60cm in exceptional specimens—with striking uniformly light green bodies traced by vivid red interior stripes and matching marginal lines. The flat, wavy-margined red nectar spoons rise dramatically from this crimson demarcation, while the low-waisted pitchers feature functional drainage holes, making this Andreas Wistuba selection a supreme acquisition for the serious collector.
Care Requirements
Light — Bright indirect light or moderate direct sun. Avoid intense midday sun — Heliamphora prefer cooler, highland conditions.
Water — Pure water only, under 50ppm dissolved solids. Use distilled, reverse osmosis, or collected rainwater. Most tap water will not work. Keep the pitchers partially filled with water and the soil consistently moist.
Temperature — Cool to intermediate. Day temps of 65–80°F (18–27°C) with cooler nights of 45–60°F (7–16°C). Many species require cool nights year-round.
Soil — Pure long-fiber sphagnum moss or a mix of peat and perlite. Garden soil will not work.
Humidity — High humidity preferred, 60–90%. A terrarium or greenhouse setup is ideal for most species.
